Character

Name: Taokaka
Fandom: BlazBlue
Gender: Female
Age: 16 (biologically; she's more like 8 mentally)
Time Period: After BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, her canon story path in which she sets out on a journey to become a stronger Kaka warrior.
Wing Color: Yellow
History: Taokaka is a member of the Kaka tribe, and a resident of the Kaka Village that is located under cities humans built. The Kaka tribe is a tribe of genetically engineered clones of Jubei, one of the Six Heroes. As a species, they cannot reproduce above 100 members, and all wear large coats that obscure their faces. Years ago, she met a young Ragna for the first time as a young Kaka kitten while traveling with Torakaka, the previous protector of their village. She spends her days napping in the small patch of sunshine they have, eating the food Litchi Faye-Ling brings to the village, and hunting down the "black squiggly" that has been eating the Kaka kittens or hunting down Ragna the Bloodedge for money to remove the metal plate covering the sky above her village.

In the beginning of Calamity Trigger, she is sent by the Elder to hunt down Ragna the Bloodedge for his bounty. She decides to follow through with her mission...and ends up fighting Ragna at a restaurant because she was hungry and wanted to eat him. Of course, she had absolutely no idea it was the wanted criminal she was supposed to be chasing down, and gave him the nickname of "good guy" afterwards. However, a crow dared to steal her hard-earned meat, to which Tao reacted by chasing it. She wound up in Rachel Alucard's rose garden somehow, which apparently doesn't exist in the same dimension as Kagutsuchi so...yeah. It really happened though. After Rachel fought Tao to get her off her lawn garden, she hit her out, and Tao ended up in Kagutsuchi. Noel Vermillion, an officer of the NOL, asked if she'd seen Ragna, to which Tao promptly responded by saying she ate with the "good guy", and commenting on her small breasts. Suspicious and offended, Noel attacked Tao and lost.

Quickly after, she took a nap, and slept through Noel dragging her off the streets. Tao was woken up by Jubei, and felt insulted that the food he promised he had was a lie. At the top of the plate covering the Kaka village, she got the "smart" idea to jump into the village from her height, and ended up making a Tao-sized hole in the sewers. There, her archenemy, Arakune (known as the 'black squiggly') attacked her. After the fight, she was rescued by the Kaka kittens dropping a rope down to where she was. Back at the Kaka village, she gorged herself on food that Litchi brought in. All was well, or so it seemed.

In Continuum Shift, Tao is once again asked by the Elder to go on an important mission: to leave the village to become a great warrior. She declines, saying that she wants to stay. However, she truly loves the village, and is confused whether she should go or not. Holding two Kaka kittens in her arms, she is reminded to protect those little lives, as they cannot protect themselves. She decides to, for the sake of protecting the village. As she is making this decision, she gets hungry and returns to the village which was probably a few yards away, stumbling upon an injured Ragna. She takes him to the Elder, and she is reunited with Torakaka, and drops Ragna on his head in her excitement. Tao decides to help him. ("If good guy dies, who'll feed me when I'm outside the village?!") The Elder sends her to find medical care for his Tao-induced injury. Inevitably, she gets distracted by the delicious smells of food wafting outside a restaurant, and runs into none other than Relius Clover, father of Carl Clover, the "Puppeteer" himself, who walks away after analyzing her smells. Finally making her way into the clinic, she tries to pounce on Litchi with the intent on groping her breasts. She ends up groping Bang, a manly ninja. Unfortunately, Dr. Litchi was not in, so Tao decides to go find her herself, which she does. They return to the Kaka village, and Litchi treats Ragna, noting his use of the Azure Grimoire. After Ragna is all bandaged up, Tao spends her time poking his injuries. He wakes up, and decides to keep moving, to which Tao objects to, saying that he needs to rest or he'll die. Being the stubborn guy he is, Ragna says he has to go anyway, and she fights to keep him from getting hurt more. Delicious fighting game logic. He gets away by tricking Tao, saying there is an airborne steak. In a rare moment of responsibility, she chases after him...and unsurprisingly, gets lost.

Tao asks for directions from Tsubaki, an officer of the NOL. However, she attacks for almost the exact same reasons Noel does. Tao secures her victory, running off after nearly forgetting about Ragna...but comes back for a minute to grope Tsubaki's breasts and deem them "average", then really runs off. She gets lost in another garden, this time meeting Noel, who was in her Murakumo mode, with the antagonist, Hazama. He decides to use her as a test of the "lifelink", and Tao fights Noel. Hazama, who hated cats, made it quite clear he wanted Tao to "go away" by killing her. In the nick of time, Jubei steps in, and Hazama runs, supposedly because he hates the stench of cats. He sends Tao to chase after Hazama, as he has business with Relius.
At the summit of Kagutsuchi, Hazama is tempering Noel into "Kusanagi". He has just defeated Ragna, which fills her with rage. Tao fights Hazama/Terumi, who activates his BlazBlue. Terumi being the godmod he is, wins anyway, and taunts her as she is weakened. Again, Jubei steps in to save her, and they both retreat.

Back at the Kaka village once again, Jubei, the Elder, and Torakaka converse. Jubei assigns Tao another mission: to find Ragna and to take care of him. Seeing as it's Jubei asking her, she can't refuse. And so she leaves the village, vowing to return strong enough to beat up anyone who dares to disrupt their napping spots.

Personality:

Taokaka is simply, like her Drive name, a reckless kitty.

She is food obsessed, perpetually hungry, forgetful, almost always pounces before she looks, and can fall asleep within five seconds. First impressions are important to her, as she rarely listens to anything anyone says, and will judge a person's character by her own eyes. She is simple in that her thought process rarely goes beyond food, fun, naps, sunshine, Kakas, breasts, black squiggly, and food again. Unfortunately, even with such a simple thought process, she is very forgetful, often forgetting important details, lessons that Litchi teaches, as well as names.

Tao acts on her own whims, fighting random people ("playing" with them), attempting to steal meat from Ragna in a restaurant, and getting lost while chasing a "food thief" who stole said meat. Her confidence in her fighting ability as a warrior of a Kaka clan means she'll attempt to beat up anybody messing with her friends. While energetic, she is also a bit lazy and a procrastinator, preferring to nap and eat in the sun instead of taking responsibility, and putting her work off until she absolutely has to do it.

However, she is loyal and protective of the ones she cares about, such as the Kaka kittens or Litchi, beating up Arakune (the "black squiggly") if he attempted to eat or attack them. She truly loves the Kaka village in which she grew up in, and respects Jubei the most, as a founder and one of the leaders of the clan. Though she may not seem like it, she can be responsible around children, most notably the Kaka kittens. Feeling the weight of the kittens' lives gives her the strength to make up her mind about leaving the village. She acts like an older sister around them, napping and playing with them, and disciplines them every now and then, even telling them to share food.

Tao is actually surprisingly competent when she wants to be, able to haggle prices, use awkward situations to her advantage (aka blackmail), and even manage a whole crowd of people clamoring to play a board game. It's just that she rarely feels like doing so.

Not used to societal norms, she gropes and comments on breasts, eats at restaurants without paying, finds words like "vigilante" too long, and doesn't know what money is. A habit of hers is to give nicknames to people, such as "Boobie Lady" for Litchi, "white guy" and "good guy" for Ragna, "bunny lady" for Rachel, and "lacking lady" for Noel. She doesn't understand figures of speech, such as "you're a devil", thinking the speaker means an actual devil. Like her story mode name, Innocent Heart, she's quite innocent, wondering why a man like Bang would have a nosebleed when she was talking about groping Litchi's breasts, or seeing no problem with analyzing random women's breasts in the street.

All in all, Tao is Taokaka.

Strengths:

Physical: Sharing the DNA of one of the legendary Six Heroes, she possesses formidable fighting ability. Her movements are often unpredictable and involve the large claws she has coming out of her sleeve, which can leave very bad slash marks on her opponent. She can also...throw things out of nowhere, such as baseballs, bowling balls, hammers, apple cores, and even Kaka kittens (who disappear shortly after). As the fastest character in the game, Tao and her incoming attacks are hard to dodge unless you have fast reflexes. The species she is part of has a large amount of stamina and life force in general, so she is constantly bouncing and dashing around.

Mental:
...There isn't much to go on. Though confident in her fighting ability, she can usually tell if somebody is too powerful for her to fight, courtesy of her instincts and DNA.

Emotional: Tao is devoted to anyone she deems good, and is an optimist. She is very active and likes talking as well, though sometimes irritating someone nearby. She does her best at the things she deems worthy of her effort, and that includes trying to cheer people up. She can tell when something is bothering someone, like in Litchi's case, possibly due to her feline/animal nature.

Weaknesses:

Physical: Even though she is a good fighter, her defense against attacks isn't exactly high. She only wears a large coat for protection, with suspenders and hotpants underneath. Her blocking skills aren't up to par either, as she's the type to constantly be on the offensive rather than the defensive. Furthermore, her species needs 15 hours of sleep a day for some reason, so she sometimes ends up sleepy after a fight.

Mental: Tao's greatest weakness is her mind. She has a rather unfortunate habit of leaping before she looks, often getting herself in situations that are troublesome, such as agreeing to fight Hakumen, one of the Six Heroes, for "playing".

As the Kaka elder put it, "she's a bit...stupid". She doesn't even recognize Ragna, the person she's eating food with in a restaurant, to be the same Ragna the Bloodedge she's supposed to be hunting for her bounty. Words such as "vigilante" are considered long to her, and simple explanations can become confusing. Litchi, the one who teaches her about the world, would be lucky if Tao remembered even a small fraction of what she taught. Her poor sense of direction leads her to forget where Litchi's clinic is, even though she visits it very frequently.
Teaching her is like teaching a young child. That can forget hours worth of lessons in three seconds.

Emotional: She acts on her emotions, either being ridiculously happy when someone gives her food, flying into a rage when someone steals said food, or becoming depressed when the food is gone or when somebody like Rachel electrically shocks her. Her mood can change in mere seconds, depending on the situation. Her innocence leads her to be unable to understand the "evils" of the world. She doesn't comprehend death or despair very well, and doesn't understand there are evil people in the world until she meets Terumi.

First Person:

[Some snoring and familiar meowing in the background...]

...Meow?

[A rather long time passes before this is recorded.]

Good Guy?! Where's the good guy, meow? Tao is supposed to follow Good Guy! Tao can't fail cat person...or else he might get mad. Tao doesn't wanna fail cat person.

[And then a rather familiar pair of red, glowing eyes and large, Cheshire-cat like teeth are pressed against the journal.]

A book? This doesn't look very tasty at all. Wait just a meowment...

Ohoho! Tao remembers neow! This is the village. Not the Kaka village, the other village!

Third Person:

In customary Kaka fashion, Taokaka was asleep in the sunlight in a field. The warm rays were a familiar comfort to her, as they would always be wherever she ventured. Rarely did she ever sleep less than fifteen hours a day, as needed by her species. However, something was nagging at her in her mind while she slept. Though she did not appreciate troublesome thoughts disturbing her dreams of delicious food, she sensed that it was important. Something about...her leader, and her friend, the "good guy". Being the procrastinator she was, she put those thoughts away for later. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't ignore it and go back into deep sleep. It was a request from Jubei himself, and she had told the kittens back in the village that naptime had to wait.

Finally, she stirred awake. The strange surroundings made her take a moment to process what was going on. Forgetting things was second nature to Tao, much to Litchi's disappointment, but she felt this place was familiar. It wasn't the Kaka village she knew and loved, with the little kittens running around, yelling and playing, but somewhere else. Furthermore, she was beginning to remember what the very important mission she was given was. Jubei, the highly esteemed leader of their clan, told her specifically to find and take care of Ragna.

After taking her sweet time to collect her thoughts and to dispel her dreams of food, she sat up and looked around.

"Good Guy! Where's the good guy, meow?!"

The last thing she remembered was that awful battle with Terumi, and that "good guy", or Ragna, was injured by him. At remembering this, she felt indignation, worry, and even caution. There was no telling what would happen on the path to becoming a great Kaka warrior. Any other day, she would've dismissed it and went back to sleeping, but she made a promise to those kittens whom she dearly loved. She promised that one day, she would return to the village as a strong warrior, strong enough to defend the village from any attackers. Until then, she couldn't give up on her mission or her journey. With firm resolve and thought still in mind, she pounced away from her napping spot.
