Cat Spirit 23! [Action]

[With ~spooky~ changes comes ~spooky~ behavior. Well, not really. This sort of hunting is par for the course with Tao.

All throughout today, there will be a catgirl here or there. There will be a catgirl anywhere, all over the village, trying to put her boundless energy to use. It's the thrill of the hunt! And her prey? ...Rats! And bats. And the occasional spider.

Because what better person/animal to take care of the rat problem than her? She's got to put those beastkin instincts to use sometime. Tao can be found zipping all over the village, taking off at full speed, running or on all fours, and chasing down rats in particular. Though if bats fly by your head, she'll go for them too. Spiders are fair game as well.

Point is, she's up and about trying to catch/hunt down these critters, and if you're in the way, better get out of it.]

Meow, meow, meow!? You get back heeeeeeeeeere!

[It takes a few seconds for Cecil to realize what's happened, but when he does his voice immediately shows concern.]

...Urk, are you al- Ouch!

[That poor bat, still somehow stuck in his hair after all of that, has finally decided that it's had enough. It's flying away! ...Or at least trying to, and pulling Cecil's hair as it does.]

[RUDE. She'll try to paw a little at his hair, then...sorry about that, Cecil.]

[Ow ow ow this is really not helping, if anything the bat is fighting twice as hard to get out.]

Please be careful, we'd not want it to attack!

[At the very least, Tao manages to roll off of Cecil, a bit lazily.]

It looks like it's trying to get away! Not on Tao's watch!

[Sweet oxygen, come to his lungs once more! (Not that Tao is that heavy, but still.) He sits up slowly, almost helped by the bat's efforts.]

There are plenty of them flying about at the moment. Surely you can afford to let one go?

[She makes a sort of purring and whining noise, thinking about it. Fine, she'll let this one go.]

That's right! Tao has a lot to do with the other thingies around here.

Indeed. Luceti's animal population has greatly increased recently. It's a little strange, but I much prefer that to what happened last year.

[The safety of his face now somewhat assured, he starts trying to untangle the poor critter again.]

[She'll let the bat go...this time. Otherwise, no mercy.]

Is it because of that Halloween thingy?

[The bat is very grateful! ...Or it would be if it wasn't busy flying away.]

Halloween? Is it some sort of power that attracts animals?

I don't know...it's some kind of celebration, I think.

[At least, that's what she's gathered over the years. It didn't really make sense to her, but if she got candy from it, it was all good.]

...Celebrating nature is normal enough, even if it's currently somewhat restricted to a few species.

[And now he's got the completely wrong idea.]

[She shrugs.]

Tao remembers that it involves candy too.

...Candy. Vermin and candy. What a strange combination. Or are we meant to feed them sweets?

Nope. We're supposed to eat the candy!

[A strange combination indeed...though the question remains if she counts the "vermin" as edible too.]

That does explain much more handily the purpose of such a holiday.

...That's all I know about it. Tao doesn't get it.

...I suppose understanding the details matters little, as long as this stays harmless.

I hope it's not gonna turn scary again, like it did last time...

I doubt it. Last time started earlier than this, and there were most side effects.

[He really, really wants to believe what he's saying, and that might show in his voice.]

[She does pick up on it, as dumb as she is. Cats have a strange sense of picking up emotions, at times.]

And this time, it looks a lot nicer! Just a bunch of bats and bugs and stuff.

...Indeed, though I must say that finding spiders in my shower against was not particularly pleasant.

[Eeeeeew. Bunch of little black squigglies. She sticks out her tongue for emphasis.]

It was, but that's still better than finding them in my food, at least.

That doesn't sound very tasty at all! You might get a stomachache if you ate them, meow.
